All lariat ropes have a shelf life. Running P Ropes is the only rope company that informs both dealers and customers that lariat ropes have a shelf life. Ropes remaining on the shelf for more than ninety days are subject to experience the nylon phenomenon.
The phenomenon of contraction or expansion is constantly occurring in a lariat rope, whether it's lying on the shelf or experiencing the terrific impact when a hard running steer is caught.
All team roping lariat ropes are basically made with nylon or other synthetic fibers. Nylon is a very unstable material that is continuously moving. Weather, humidity along with all of the above will affect ropes and cause them to change the “feel”.
Most ropers will take precautions to keep their ropes protected from heat, cold and humidity. Every rope manufactured at Running P Ropes is dated so you know how old your rope is before your buy. To insure that our ropes are fresh and will “feel” just like the last rope you bought, Running P Ropes works closely with our dealers to help maintain a balanced yet not excessive inventory.
